Centra Specialty Hospital is a long term acute care hospital that offers expert patient and family-centered care. We specialize in providing extended hospital care for the medically complex, catastrophically injured or critically ill patients who:
- Cannot be cared for at a lower level of care.
- Require an average of 2-4 weeks of additional hospitalization before progressing through the healthcare continuum.
- No longer require ICU level care but are too complex to transfer to a skilled nursing or rehab facility.
- Have had one or more hospitalizations within the last 30 days.
An individualized care plan is designed for each patient by a team that relies on the expertise of multiple caregivers. The team, led by a physician, includes nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, speech therapists, dietitians, and case managers. All members of the team are focused on working with the patient and their family to develop a plan of care that will maximize the patient’s recovery.
